FTTH and its implication to fiber optical communications

Abstract:

FTTH has talked for many years. Finally Verizon FiOS FTTH is taking off, and good revenue and growth potential is projected by Verizon. NTT has launched FTTH for a few years, not they are adding the video portion to accelerate the growth. European countries are adding fiber to home and IPTV with growing interest. Even China has started FTTH trials.

What are the architectures of these FTTH networks?

What are the key components for these networks?

What are the opportunities and challenges for fiber optical communication community?

This talk will address the main architectures of the FTTH network in the world, their pros and cons, and their requirement for components. The bandwidth demand of FTTH and its implication for growth in access, metro and long-haul network will also be discussed in this presentation.
