Title:
Big Science comes of age in
China, a look beyond table top R & D, its impact on technology and

Abstract
SLAC

Shanghai Synchrotron Radiation Facility in collaboration with the Photon
Factory, Japan. China has laid out a fairly ambitious plan for scientific
facilities.
Walter will talk about
the significant roles that big science will play in
technology development and economy. It is contrary to the
common notion that Big science is only for fundamental research. It plays a
significant role in technology and economic development.
Walter will give an
overview of the facilities, demystify big science and
discuss how it benefits tech bsuiness, big or small. Walter is recognized
for his distinctive clarity in explaining complexity.
