Distinguished Speakers:
Dr. Jie Han, Technical Director of NASA Ames Research Center Founder and Chairman of Integrated Nanosystems, Inc. VP of Silicon Valley Science and Technology Association Title of presentation: Nano Technology for Semiconductor and Life Science
BIO of Dr. Jie Han: Jie successfully started two companies in polymer latex products during graduate school, a research center for nanoscale particles and films after graduate school, and a multimillion-dollar nano-particle company in Shanghai between 1987 and 1990. He worked at IBM Almaden Research Center on computer simulations before joining the NASA Ames Research Center to lead and manage the nanotechnology program. In addition, Jie has advised two biotechnology companies in Silicon Valley before he founded Integrated Nanosystems, Inc. Jie holds a BS, MS and PhD in chemical engineering from East China University of Science and Technology, and a PhD in materials science and engineering from University of Utah. He received the 1997 Feynman Prize and has won 8 awards from NASA for his research and technology development leadership since 1997 Dr. Li-Peng Wang, Sr. Design/Process Engineer, Intel Corp. Title of presentation: Challenges for MEMS/NEMS Technology Development Bio of Dr. Li-Peng Wang: Li-Peng is a senior design/process engineer within the Emerging Technology group. Li-Peng received his M.S. degree in mechanical engineering in 1997 and his Ph.D. in engineering science in 2001, both at Pennsylvania State University. His Ph.D. research was focused on MEMS sensors based on piezoelectric Lead Zirconate Titanate (PZT) thin films. He joined the Emerging Technology group in 2001, and is responsible for material development, design, and process integration for RF MEMS applications. Li-Peng has co-authored 8 papers and has 10 pending patents in piezoelectric materials and MEMS.
